The installation required the removal of an existing gas appliance and surround. The chimney breast was external in this case.
We opened up the recess into the external chimney breast and made the relevant structural alterations in order to support the internal masonry wall.
The client wanted a fairly contemporary feel to the installation so A Nordpeis Bergen wood stove was specified on a slate hearth with a European Air Dried Oak facing lintel installed. A slate hearth was set onto the existing concrete floor and the skirting made good with slate to match.
