Stove Project Overview

Hot Box Stoves was contacted to provide a quote for a stove installation in a detached property in York. Our customers wanted a wood-burning stove which would not only provide additional heat in their living room but also has a sleek and modern design that would complement their home decor.

They were particularly drawn to the Dik Geurts Odin stove, a wood-burning stove with sleek lines and a minimalist aesthetic. Its distinctive circular design not only makes it a real eye-catcher, but its shape also generates fabulous flame patterns. Flames which are easy to control, with just one unique air slider that is exclusive to Dik Geurts.

INSTALLATION

As with every installation, the works began with placing temporary protection from the point where our operatives enter the property through to the room where the installation was undertaken.

To start with, the stove was placed on a 2 piece decorative slate hearth. Once it was in the correct position, a black Schiedel Twin Wall Chimney System was installed to the top of the stove; first vertically then through the wall at a 45′ angle and continued to a height in accordance with Document J of Building Regulations, using fixing brackets and components where required.

The chimney system was completed with an anti-down draft cowl.

Once all debris was disposed of and the area where the stove was installed was cleaned, our HETAS registered engineers performed a smoke test using Firestarter. The smoke test ensures that, there is an adequate degree of draw and that all connections are sealed.

Finally, in accordance with building regulations, a CO/ Carbon Monoxide Alarm and a chimney notice plate were installed.
