Stove Project Overview

Hot Box Stoves were asked to supply and install a large cylindrical shape woodburning stove in a newly finished living room extension. Our customers wanted a statement stove with a large window that would create a focal point and allow them to enjoy the view of the fire across the whole newly created living space. Due to the size of the room as well as our customer’s requirement, the perfect choice was a Westfire Uniq 36 Pedestal.

Westfire Uniq 36 Pedestal is slightly larger than other Westfire models and will deploy ample heat. Because of its shape, it is perfect for corner installations, and by raising the fire chamber it increases the ambient effect throughout large rooms. This sophisticated, wood-burning convection stove really is a must-have statement piece.

This stove is tested to the latest Danish standards and is also compliant with the 2022 ECO-DESIGN standard. Designed to burn wood, with an output range of 5-8kW, it will easily keep you warm during colder months.

INSTALLATION

As with every installation, the works began with placing temporary protection from the point where our operatives enter the property through to the room where the installation was undertaken.

Due to the large output of the stove, our engineers were required to install a suitable air vent kit near where the stove was to be installed. Following that, the stove was placed on a teardrop matt granite-type hearth. Once it was in the correct position, a black Schiedel Twin Wall Chimney System was installed to the top of the stove; first vertically then through the wall at a 45′ angle and continued to a height in accordance with Document J of Building Regulations, using fixing brackets and components where required.

The chimney system was completed with an anti-down draft cowl.

Once all debris was disposed of and the area where the stove was installed was cleaned, our HETAS registered engineers performed a smoke test using Firestarter. The smoke test ensures that, there is an adequate degree of draw and that all connections are sealed.

Finally, in accordance with building regulations, a CO/ Carbon Monoxide Alarm and a chimney notice plate were installed.
