Stove Project Overview

Hot Box Stoves was contacted by our customers who were completely re-designing their property and required several jobs to be completed. We were asked to supply and install two wood-burning stoves as well as to install a twin wall chimney system to an oil AGA cooker that was being moved to a different part of the house. The two stoves that were chosen were Parkray Aspect 5 on a 225mm log store base and Dik Geurts Vidar Wall Hung wood stove.

INSTALLATION

It was our understanding that the AGA will be in the correct position for us to install a flue system prior to our proposed works.

As the AGA is oil, the flue system was to be connected to the AGA by others with suitable certification provided.

The specification of work comprised the following elements of work:

• Providing temporary protection from the point where our operatives enter the property through to the room where the installation is to be undertaken (heavy gauge plastic sheeting which will be left in position for the duration of our work).
• Installing a Black Schiedel Twin Wall Chimney System (Insulated Flue System that can be as close as 6cm to combustibles) vertically for approx .75m then through the wall at a 45′ angle, and using a 135-T bend, before continuing to a height in accordance with Document J of Building Regulations, using fixing brackets and components where required
• Completing the twin wall chimney system installation with an Anti-Down Draft Cowl.
• Disposing of all debris as works progress.
• Fitting in accordance with building regulations 1 number CO/ Carbon Monoxide Alarm, mandatory with all stove installations as of 1st October 2010.
• Installing a chimney notice plate outlining details of the installation in accordance with Document J of Building Regulations.
• Providing a HETAS certificate of compliance.
