Stove Project Overview

A small output Burley woodburner installation recently finished in Alne, North Yorkshire in a renovated detached house.

The customer chose a DEFRA exempt appliance which also complies with the new 2022 low particle emission regulations.

The woodburner is equipped with an extra catalytic converter, to ensure the emissions are kept as low as possible.

The appliance is sitting over a 900 mm x 900 mm square granite polished hearth.

It took us two half days to complete the installation. The first day we installed the majority of the black powder coated, stainless steel chimney system through the ceiling, the loft and through the roof. On the roof we used a lead style flashing kit to ensure the installation is watertight from the top.

We went back to the house a few weeks later, when the renovation project forwarded enough for us to install the woodburner itself. We measured and laid the hearth, making sure it’s all level. We finished the chimney in the room and connected to the stove. We drilled an 80 mm diameter whole behind the stove to ensure direct airflow to the woodburner without causing draft in the living space.

As a finish we painted the chimney components in the room to the same colour as the stove, to provide a neater finish.

As part of our commissioning we lit a small fire in the Burley Launde to check that there are no leaks between the appliance and the chimney system. We installed a CO detector on the wall to ensure we comply with the current HETAS regulations.

The end result

The customer is satisfied the end result and looking forward for when they can move in and light a fire in their new home.
