Stove Project Overview

We were contacted to provide a quote for a tunnel stove installation in a newly purchased property in Skelton, York. Our customers wanted to change the complete look of the fireplace as well as update the traditional style stove to one of simple and sleek design that would complement their newly redecorated space. Their vision was to replace the white ceramic tiles on the sides of the recess with staggered slate chamber panels that would go perfectly with decorative, dark slate hearth slabs. Taking everything into account, our project manager suggested a Parkray Aspect 4 – double sided stove, its contemporary look with a large viewing window was an ideal fit.

Parkray Aspect 4 double-sided stove is the smallest of the aspect double-sided collection. Don’t let the size fool you as it warms any space with ease thanks to its powerful powerful Tripleburn® technology with a generous output range of 4-6kW. Nominal output of 4.9kW allows for installations where no air-brick is required. Parkway Aspect 4 combines elegance and innovation; it has impressively low CO emissions, which means you can keep warm whilst being environmentally friendly.

INSTALLATION DETAILS

As with every installation, the works began with placing temporary protection in all areas where work was to be carried out. The old stove was removed together with the old brick heart and ceramic tiles from the recess and kitchen face. Following that, the recess was lined with staggered slate chamber panels and new slate hearth slabs were installed together with slate slips to both sides of the recess. Once, the recess was ready, the customer’s chimney was lined with a 316-grade twin skin flue liner. Next, the stove was placed in the correct position and a galvanised steel plate was fixed to the underside of the recess and sealed with high-temperature sealant. The stove was connected with the liner using twin wall chimney components as well as a stove pipe. The chimney flue was completed with the installation of pot hanging cowl. Once all debris was disposed of and the area where the stove was installed was cleaned, our HETAS registered engineers performed a smoke test using the one and only Firestarter. The smoke test ensures that there is an adequate degree of draw and that all connections are sealed. Finally, in accordance with building regulations, a CO/ Carbon Monoxide Alarm and a chimney notice plate were installed.
