Parts to install a wood stove?

Hot Box ® supply and install wood burning stoves on a daily basis. Since our foundation in 2008 we have stuck rigidly to a single supplier for all of our components.

So what parts do you need to install a wood stove?

You will need to know if you intend to fit your woodburner to an existing chimney or using a new factory made twin wall chimney system.

Let’s start with fitting a wood burning into an existing class 1 masonry chimney using a flexible flue liner.

You will need, from the top down: 

• Cowl or terminal.
• Flexible flue liner, sized to the outlet of your appliance or bigger.
• Nose cone, to help guide the liner down the flue.
• Flexi to stove pipe connector, to make a seamless joint between the stove pipe and the flexible flue liner.
• Stove pipe, to connect to the flue outlet of the wood stove.
• Register plate, normally 2mm or 3mm galvanised or stainless steel.
• Fire cement and high temperature sealant.

Further, you will need a range of tools and equipment. 

• Access requirements, consider carefully ladders, cherry pickers or scaffolding.
• Rope, to drop down the flue and guide the liner into the room.
• Hacksaw or grinder to cut the flue liner.
• Flat head screwdriver to fix the terminal.
• Battery drill and impact driver for fitting the register plate.
• Sealant gun for sealing the register plate and making other connections.
