Westfire Uniq 37 | Twin Wall Chimney System Installation

2023 The Year to get cozy with a wood burning stove

Westfire Uniq 37 | Twin Wall Chimney System Installation

Stove Project Overview

We were contacted to supply and install a cylindrical stove in a newly built living room extension. Our customers wanted to add a focal point to their new space as well as use the stove as an additional heating source during colder months. One of the main requirements was a large viewing window to allow our customers to enjoy the view of the fire; with this, in mind, our project manager suggested Westfire Uniq 37, which not only offers a stunning design with side window panels but also produces an impressive 7.2kW of heat.

The Westfire Uniq 37 woodburning stove is slightly bigger than other Westfire models; the glass side panels, in addition to the large front glass, provide a complete 180-degree view of the fire that never fails to impress.

This cylindrical stove has a storage door and a multi-point locking system on the combustion door, it is finished in metallic anthracite paint and completed with polished stainless steel handles.

Westfire Uniq 37 is Eco Design 2022 ready and adheres to all of the current specifications for the new Clear Air legislation that came into effect in 2022.

INSTALLATION

As with every installation, the day began with placing temporary protection in all areas where work was to be carried out. To start with, the stove was placed on a square-shaped matt granite-style hearth. Before installing and connecting the stove to the twin wall chimney system, our engineers installed a direct air connection to the stove through the rear wall. Following that, a black Schiedel Twin Wall Chimney System was installed to the top of the stove vertically, then at an angle and through the ceiling and roof covering. Following that, a suitable lead flashing kit was installed together with a storm collar; the chimney system was completed with an anti-down draft cowl.

Once all debris was disposed of and the area where the stove was installed was cleaned, our HETAS registered engineers performed a smoke test using Firestarter. The smoke test ensures that there is an adequate degree of draw and that all connections are sealed. Finally, in accordance with building regulations, a CO/ Carbon Monoxide Alarm and a chimney notice plate were installed.

Our clients were pleased with the whole installation process as well as the stove choice. We were told that not only it produced enough heat in the room but also added character and style to their newly created space. They are looking forward to using it in the fast-approaching winter months.
