Stove Project Overview
Hot Box Stoves was contacted to do a survey in a property with never been used chimney breast. Our customers wanted us to install an efficient, cast iron stove with a large window to enjoy the view of the fire.
During the home survey, our project manager suggested a Burley Hardwick wood-burning stove. It is the newest addition to Burley’s Fireball range with an efficiency of 90.4% making it the most efficient stove on the market. The Burley Hardwick delivers a nominal 5kW of heat with a maximum of 6.4 kW of heat. It is armed with a catalytic converter in order to boost efficiency and ensure it meets DEFRA and EcoDesign regulations. It features a heavy-duty steel body, a cast iron door with a large glass and a stylish wooden door handle that finishes the stove beautifully.
As with every installation, the works began with placing temporary protection in the room where the installation took place. Our installers began with excavating and finding the class 1 flue, which was swept before a 316-grade twin skin flue liner was installed. Once finished, the stove was placed in the correct position and a 2mm galvanised steel plate was fitted and sealed to the underside of the recess. Following that, the stove was connected to the new chimney liner using a length of vitreous enamel pipe. All joints and connections were sealed using fire silicone. The installation was completed with a pot hanging cowl.
Equally to our previous installations, a CO/carbon Monoxide alarm was fitted together with a chimney notice plate outlining the details of the installation.
Using Firestarter, the stove was smoke tested to ensure there is an adequate degree of draw and all connections and joints, are sealed.
