Stove Project Overview

Our customers were looking at replacing an old and inefficient stove in their living room, they wanted a cast iron door stove with a large window with high ratings of efficiency. Their living room was big enough to house a 5 kW stove,  and with this in mind our project manager recommended a Burley Hardwick wood-burning stove.

Burley Hardwick is the most efficient stove currently on the market. Armed with a catalytic converter, it ensures a clean burn with an impressive 90.4% efficiency rating that surpasses the Defra and Eco Design requirements. It is built in Britain and features a heavy-duty steel body and a solid cast iron door with a large viewing window that allows you to really enjoy the view of the fire.

INSTALLATION

As with every installation, the works began with placing temporary protection in all areas where work was to be carried out. Once the customer’s old stove was removed, the chimney was swept and lined with a 316-grade twin skin flue liner. Next, the new stove was placed in the correct position and a galvanized steel plate was fixed to the underside of the recess and sealed with high-temperature sealant. The customer’s new stove was connected with the liner using twin wall chimney components as well as a stove pipe. The chimney flue was completed with the installation of a pot hanging cowl. Once all debris was disposed of and the area where the stove was installed was cleaned, our HETAS registered engineers performed a smoke test using the one and only Firestarter. The smoke test ensures there is an adequate degree of draw and that all connections are sealed. Finally, in accordance with building regulations, a CO/ Carbon Monoxide Alarm and a chimney notice plate were installed.
