Stove Project Overview
We were asked to provide a quote for a wood-burning stove to be installed in our customer’s living room. They wanted to open up their existing fireplace, create a recess and install a freestanding log burner. Taking into account the size of the room, our project manager suggested Parkray Aspect 5 Eco.
The Parkray Aspect 5 Eco is a wood-burning stove that combines efficiency and contemporary design.
It features a large viewing window that offers an unobstructed view of the fire, making it perfect for adding warmth and ambience to any room. It also has a built-in air wash system that keeps the glass clean.
The stove is highly efficient, with an output of up to 7 kW and an efficiency rating of 80%.
The Parkray Aspect 5 Eco is DEFRA-approved for use in smoke-controlled areas, making it a great choice for environmentally conscious homeowners.
INSTALLATION
As with every installation, the works began with placing temporary protection in all areas where work was to be carried out.
The old appliance was removed together with the stone hearth and the fire surround.
Following that, our engineers worked on creating a fireplace opening. A new reinforced concrete and steel lintel was installed, and the back and sides of the newly created recess were lined with a fireboard. Once recess works were completed, our engineers installed a slate hearth and a limestone mantel.
Next, the chimney was swept and lined with a Schiedel 316-grade twin skin flue liner. The stove was placed into a position and a galvanised steel plate was fixed to the underside of the recess and sealed between the closure plate and chimney with high-temperature sealant.
The stove was connected with the liner using twin wall chimney components as well as a stove pipe. The chimney flue was completed with the installation of a pot hanging cowl.
Once all debris was disposed of and the area where the stove was installed was cleaned, our HETAS registered engineers performed a smoke test using the one and only Firestarter. The smoke test ensures that there is an adequate degree of draw and that all connections are sealed. Finally, in accordance with building regulations, a CO/ Carbon Monoxide Alarm and a chimney notice plate were installed.
