INSTALLATION
The stove Installation was carried out in accordance with HETAS Guidelines and Document J of Building Regulations.
To begin with, temporary protection was placed in all areas where work was carried out and our installers began creating a fireplace opening to approximately 900mm x 900mm.
Following that, a fireboard was installed to the back and sides of the newly created recess.
Once recess works were completed, our engineers installed a slate hearth and a Geocast beam above the recess.
Next, the old gas liner was removed and the chimney was swept and lined with a Schiedel 904-grade twin skin flue liner (suitable for multi-fuel stoves).
The stove was placed into a position and a galvanised steel plate was fixed to the underside of the recess and sealed between the closure plate and chimney with high-temperature sealant.
The stove was connected with the liner using twin wall chimney components as well as a stove pipe. The chimney flue was completed with the installation of a pot hanging cowl.
The chimney flue installation was completed with a pot hanging cowl.
Further, mandatory to all stove installations, a new Carbon Monoxide alarm was installed along with a data plate detailing the work undertaken by our teams of HETAS-registered stove fitters.
TESTING AND COMMISSIONING
As part of each stove installation carried out by Hot Box, every appliance is tested and commissioned to ensure it operates correctly.
The process involves lighting a small fire to check connections and the adequacy of the draw. To ensure consistency, we use the Firestarter, the most convenient way to light a wood burner.
Usually, the process of lighting the stove for the first time is demonstrated to our clients to ensure they understand the relevant air controls and mechanisms on their woodburner.
