Stove Project Overview

Hot Box were engaged to remove a 1950’s fire surround and open fire.

However, our client was keen to retain the wall panelling above the old surround with a view to making it good prior to decoration.

As such, we guided our client to install a surround that was larger than the original so that the there would be less making good to the panelling.

Our team of HETAS engineers opened the recess and installed a new structural lintel to facilitate the installation of a new woodburner.

A new stone fire surround was therefore installed, inclusive of new slate hearth.

There chimney was then lined using a 316 flexible flue liner.

Finally we connected a Parkray Aspect 8 slimline woodburner.

After only a small amount of making good, we think this installation with the panelling to the wall behind will look fantastic with a dark Farrow and Ball colour scheme perhaps?

 

The end result

The details included cutting around the new fire surround in preparation for the final finishes.

Further, we install a new herringbone brick panel behind the stove to add interest inside the recess.

Cant wait to see the painted finish and a pic with the new floor down.
