The only real restrictions would be your local authority if you live in a smoke controlled zone, however, to get around this simply opt for a DEFRA approved stove and these have been tested and approved for burning in a smoke controlled zone.
So an easier answer is no nothing is stopping you!
Do I need a chimney to have a wood burning stove?
A common misconception is that you need a chimney to install a wood burning stove. Whilst having a traditional stove set up with chimney and flue would be easier you can, in fact, install a wood burning stove anywhere (guidelines followed of course) with the use of an artificial chimney or otherwise known (twin wall system).
