The Hobbit stove installation by Hot Box® Stoves

Hot Box ® Stoves were engaged to carry out the installation of a Salamander‘s Hobbit SE which was recommended during our home survey.

STOVE

The Salamander‘s Hobbit SE stove is a compact and efficient heating solution that offers a heat output of 4kW. What’s more, with its sleek design and high-quality construction, this stove is perfect for small to medium-sized spaces.

Moreover, boasting an impressive efficiency rating of 79.4%, the Hobbit SE stove ensures that the majority of the heat generated is utilised. This minimises wastage and maximises energy savings. Further, with an energy class A rating, it is an environmentally friendly choice that helps reduce your carbon footprint.

Furthermore, the Hobbit SE stove comes with a range of accessories to enhance its functionality. These include brass fittings, which add a touch of elegance and durability to the stove’s appearance. Additionally, the coal bars provide additional support for burning solid fuel efficiently.

Additionally, to accommodate different preferences and cooking needs, the stove offers options such as a stand and a stainless steel cooktop or an extended hot plate. This allows you to use the stove not only for heating but also for cooking meals or boiling water, adding versatility to its functionality.

Further, the appliance is classified as Eco Design Ready and complies with standards documented by Chapter 6 of The Clean Air Act 2019.

INSTALLATION

The stove installation was carried out in accordance with HETAS Guidelines and Document J of Building Regulations.

Firstly, our team provided temporary protection to our clients home, standard practice at Hot Box.

To start with, our fitters removed the fire bars and grate, swept the flue and lined with with a Schiedel 316-grade twin skin flue liner.

Further, they placed the stove into a position and fixed a galvanised steel plate to the underside of the recess and sealed the closure plate and chimney with high-temperature sealant.

Following that, the stove was connected with the liner using twin wall chimney components as well as a stove pipe. Then, the chimney flue was completed with the installation of a pot hanging cowl.

Further, mandatory to all stove installations, a new Carbon Monoxide alarm was installed along with a data plate detailing the work undertaken by our teams of HETAS-registered stove fitters.

TESTING AND COMMISSIONING

Finally, as part of each stove installation carried out by Hot Box, every appliance is tested and commissioned to ensure it operates correctly.

The process involves lighting a small fire to check connections and the adequacy of the draw. To ensure consistency, we use the Firestarter, the most convenient way to light a wood burner.

Usually, the process of lighting the stove for the first time is demonstrated to our clients to ensure they understand the relevant air controls and mechanisms on their woodburner.
