How they work….

Most noteworthy,  wood fired hot tubs works on very basic principals, gravity.

Mounted on the side of the Dutchtub is a simple stainless steel coil.

Essentially, the hot tub is filled with cold water which fills the coil.

Most importantly, build a good fire to heat the water in the coil.

Because of gravity, the warm water will flow upwards whilst the cold water will flow down, thermal cycling.

As a result, the warm water will begin to displace the cold and fill the hot tub.

What wood should I burn?

Ultimately, your wood fired tub is an appliance, only good quality seasoned or kiln dried wood fuel should be used.

Using such fuel will will mean less smoke, faster heating times, and less pollution.

Will I need a chimney?

At Hot Box, we would always recommend the use of a chimney to expel any smoke above the people in the tub.

Further, a chimney will assist with draw and help the fire to burn in a more controlled fashion, especially outside.
