Stove Project Overview

We were contacted to do a survey at a property with a newly built extension to the back of the house. Our customers wanted a large, multi-fuel stove to be installed in a hallway joining the new and the old part of the house. They were concerned with the lack of a chimney, however, they were assured that the stove could be installed using a twin wall chimney system – an incredible solution for all spaces without access to a traditional chimney stack. Taking all the requirements into consideration, we suggested the Charnwood Arc 7 with a log store – a tall, contemporary stove with modern lines and a large viewing window that would fill the space perfectly proving a focal point for the newly created space.

The Charnwood ARC 7 is the latest addition to the Arc range. With a nominal output of 7kW (range 5-11kW), it is particularly suited to larger rooms or open plan areas. It is a true multi-fuel stove with exceptional clean burn technology that exceeds the criteria for both Clean Air Act and Ecodesign Ready offering efficiency of over 80%.

INSTALLATION

As with every installation, the installation day began with placing temporary protection in all areas where work was to be carried out. To start with, the stove was placed on a D-shaped matt granite-style hearth. A black Schiedel Twin Wall Chimney System was installed to the top of the stove vertically through the ceiling and roof covering. Following that, a suitable lead flashing kit was installed together with a storm collar; the chimney system was completed with an anti-down draft cowl. Once all debris was disposed of and the area where the stove was installed was cleaned, our HETAS registered engineers performed a smoke test using Firestarter. The smoke test ensures that there is an adequate degree of draw and that all connections are sealed. Finally, in accordance with building regulations, a CO/ Carbon Monoxide Alarm and a chimney notice plate were installed.

Our clients were pleased with the whole installation process as well as the stove choice. We were told that not only it produced enough heat for both parts of the house but also added character and style to their home. They are looking forward to using it in the fast-approaching winter months.
