Parkray Aspect 7 | Twin Wall Chimney Installation

Stove Project Overview

Hot Box Stoves was contacted to carry out a survey in a newly purchased property. Our customers were in the process of major renovation work and wanted an old gas fire to be removed and replaced with a large wood-burning stove. Our project manager suggested Prakray Aspect 7, a popular choice for homeowners looking to add warmth, ambience, and character to their homes while also benefiting from the environmental and economic advantages of wood as a fuel source.

STOVE

The Parkray Aspect 7 is a stylish and efficient wood-burning stove that is designed to provide warmth and comfort in any home. This high-quality stove is manufactured by one of the most reputable names in the industry and is built to last for years to come.

The Parkray Aspect 7 has a modern and sleek design that will complement any home décor. The stove is also available with or without a log store, which provides a convenient place to store your firewood.

The Aspect 7 has a large viewing window that allows you to enjoy the flames and warmth of the fire. The glass is kept clean by the Airwash system, which directs air over the surface of the glass to prevent it from becoming sooty or stained. This ensures that you always have a clear view of the flames, which adds to the cosy ambience of the stove.

The stove is highly efficient and is rated at 81% efficiency. This means that 81% of the heat produced by the stove is used to heat your home, while only 19% is lost through the flue. The stove is also DEFRA-approved, which means that it can be used in smoke-controlled areas. This is due to the stove’s clean burn technology, which reduces emissions and ensures that the stove operates cleanly and efficiently.

INSTALLATION

Before installation, a Gas Safe engineer was instructed to cut/cap off the gas to the recess. Once completed, a temporary protection was placed from the point where our operatives entered the property through to the room where the installation was to be undertaken. To begin with the old gas fire and the fire surround were removed and the old hearth was replaced with a new slate hearth.

Next, the new stove was placed on the hearth. Once it was in the correct position, a black Schiedel Twin Wall Chimney System was installed to the top of the stove; first vertically then through the wall at a 45′ angle and continued to a height in accordance with Document J of Building Regulations, using fixing brackets and components where required.

The chimney system was completed with an anti-down draft cowl.

Once all debris was disposed of and the area where the stove was installed was cleaned, our HETAS registered engineers performed a smoke test using Firestarter. The smoke test ensures that, there is an adequate degree of draw and that all connections are sealed.

Finally, in accordance with building regulations, a CO/ Carbon Monoxide Alarm and a chimney notice plate were installed.
