Stove Project Overview

We were contacted to do a survey for a customer who wanted the Hobbit SE multi-fuel stove installed in her Victorian style open fireplace.

One of the main benefits of the Hobbit SE stove is its size. Measuring just 302mm wide, 272mm deep, and 465mm high, it is one of the smallest wood-burning stoves on the market. This makes it an excellent choice for those who have limited space in their home but still want the warmth and comfort of a traditional wood-burning stove.

Despite its small size, the Hobbit SE stove is also very efficient. It has an efficiency rating of 81.4%, which means that it can heat your home while using less fuel than other stoves. This can help you save money on your heating bills and reduce your carbon footprint.

In addition to its size and efficiency, the Hobbit SE stove is also stylish and well-designed. It has a classic look that complements Victorian-style homes, and it is available in a variety of finishes and colours to suit your home’s decor.

INSTALLATION

The works began with placing temporary protection in all areas where work was to be carried out. Once the room was protected, the front bars, the grate and the fireback were removed.

Next, the chimney was swept and lined with a 316-grade twin skin flue liner. The new stove was placed in the correct position and a galvanized steel plate was fixed to the underside of the recess and sealed with high-temperature sealant. The customer’s new stove was connected with the liner using twin wall chimney components as well as a stove pipe. The chimney flue was completed with the installation of a pot-hanging cowl.

Once all debris was disposed of and the area where the stove was installed was cleaned, our HETAS registered engineers performed a smoke test using Firestarter. The smoke test ensures there is an adequate degree of draw and that all connections are sealed. Finally, in accordance with building regulations, a CO/ Carbon Monoxide Alarm and a chimney notice plate were installed.
