Stove Project Overview
Our client wanted to replace their old cast iron fire grate and gather for a more efficient wood burning stove.
In our favour, the recess was already present and the hearth was more than adequate to comply with HETAS guidelines for a closed appliance.
The existing fireplace had not been swept for a number of years. Before installing the flexible flue liner our team swept the flue of debris. Standard operating procedure in advance of every Hot Box installation.
The existing fire grate and gather could then be removed and the chimney liner installed, a 5″ flexible flue liner by Schiedel, the only liners that we ever use.
The flexible liner was installed and hung from the pot using a screw fit pot hanging cowl.
A new register plate was installed along with a new stove pipe, fitted via a Flexi to stove connector.
Finally, the stove was connected and commissioned by two of our HETAS engineers.
A superb example of how an existing recess can be repurposed to house an efficient wood burner.

The end result
A fire place reimagined, with new wood burner.
A happy, and importantly warm client.
The installation process took one day due to the fact that the recess was already there, the client wanted to retain the hearth and intern appearance.
As such, our work was simple and involved only lining the chimney, installing a register plate, making the connection and commissioning the appliance.
