Stove Project Overview
We were asked to do a home survey in a bungalow in Goole, our customer wanted a stove installed to be used as a primary heat source.
Due to the size of the bungalow and rooms layout, our project manager suggested installing a tunnel stove that would sit between two rooms and distribute the heat across the whole bungalow. Our customer preferred a traditional looking stove, and with that in mind, a Parkray Consort 9 single depth double-sided stove was selected.
The Consort 9 range has an impressive output range from 6kW to 11kW with a nominal output of 8.9kW, and it is perfect for heating large spaces. It has been painstakingly designed to utilise Parkray’s best-ever Tripleburn® technology to warm any space quickly and effectively. The Parkray Consort 9 double-sided stove has large viewing windows allowing users to enjoy the view of the fire from both sides.
As always, the area where the installation was carried out was lined with temporary heavy gauge plastic protection. To start with our installers created a double-sided fireplace opening to approximately 900mm x 900mm, followed by an installation of reinforced concrete and steel lintels. The sides of the newly created recess were finished with a fireboard ready to be painted by our customer. Before installing the stove, a selectional slate hearth and an oak style beam were also installed.
Once the installation area was clear of any debris, our installers swept the current flue and installed a Schiedel 316-grade twin skin flexible flue liner. The stove was placed into its correct position and connected with the flue liner using a vitreous enamel pipe. To complete the chimney flue installation a pot hanging cowl was installed.
Lastly, a smoke test was performed by lighting a small fire using Hot Box® Firestarter to ensure that there is an adequate degree of draw and all connections are sealed. Additionally, our fitters supplied and fitted a Co/Carbon Monoxide alarm as well as a chimney notice plate outlining details of the installation.
