Stove Project Overview

How Box Stoves was asked to install a freestanding woodburning stove in a newly built garden room. Our customers wanted a stove of a contemporary and creative design to create a focal point as well as an additional source of heat. They were absolutely delighted with our project manager’s suggestion – STUV 30 Compact, a highly efficient stove with versatile wood burning options thanks to its 3-door system.

All you have to do is turn your Stûv 30-compact’s drum until the door you want is in front of the stove opening. The glass door gives a magnificent view of the flames, guaranteeing safety, eco-friendliness, and savings, thanks to its excellent output. The solid door slows down the fire and optimises performance. Finally, the open fire mode means that you can make the most of the crackling flames, the smell of the wood, and even a barbeque. On top of that, the Stûv 30-compact ensures highly efficient combustion. The glass stays clean for longer and the output can easily be adjusted between 3 and 9 kW.

INSTALLATION

As with every installation, the installation day began with placing temporary protection in all areas where work was to be carried out. To start with, the stove was placed on a tear drop matt granite-style hearth. A black Schiedel Twin Wall Chimney System was installed to the top of the stove vertically through the ceiling and roof covering. Following that, a suitable lead flashing kit was installed together with a storm collar; the chimney system was completed with an anti-down draft cowl. Once all debris was disposed of and the area where the stove was installed was cleaned, our HETAS registered engineers performed a smoke test using Firestarter. The smoke test ensures that there is an adequate degree of draw and that all connections are sealed. Finally, in accordance with building regulations, a CO/ Carbon Monoxide Alarm and a chimney notice plate were installed.
