Stove Project Overview

Hot Box Stoves was asked to do a survey of a property with a newly created open living space. Our clients redesigned their kitchen and living room area creating a large space for the whole family to enjoy. They wanted a wood-burning stove to create a focal point as well as have an additional source of heat. They opted for a contemporary stove with a large viewing window – STUV 6-H.

STUV stoves, a Belgian manufacturer, combines innovative, striking designs with robust technology ensuring the preservation of the environment as far as possible. STUV 6-H is constructed in steel, offering a nominal heat output of 5.9kW (range 4-9kW); it is the smallest of three in the 6-H range.

INSTALLATION

As there was no access to a traditional chimney, this installation required a twin wall chimney system to be installed through the wall and up along the wall to a correct height in accordance with building regulations. Once the chimney system was installed, the stove was placed on a square matt granite type hearth. Before connecting the stove to the chimney system, our engineers installed a direct air connection to the stove through the rear wall. When all debris was disposed of and the area where the stove was installed was cleaned, our HETAS registered engineers performed a smoke test using  Firestarter. The smoke test ensures that there is an adequate degree of draw and that all connections are sealed. Finally, in accordance with building regulations, a CO/ Carbon Monoxide Alarm and a chimney notice plate were installed.
