Stove Project Overview

Our customer wanted to create a focal point in their newly built extension. They requested a cylindrical, corner wood burner large enough to heat the extension that would also provide some warmth to their newly redecorated living room. Taking into account the size of the extension and the chosen stove style, our project manager suggested a Danish stove – Westfire Uniq 36 Pedestal.

Westfire Uniq 36 Pedestal is a perfect corner stove with an output range between 5-8kW. With its raised fire chamber it can distribute the heat across large rooms whilst proving wonderful views of the fire through a generous glass in the curved door. Westfire Uniq 36 also features a double point locking system ensuring an airtight door closure. Additionally, it is Defra approved making it suitable for installations in Smoke Controlled zones.

As the stove was installed in a room without a chimney, a Schiedel twin wall system was built and installed vertically through the ceiling. A bespoke flashing kit was also supplied and installed together with a suitable storm collar as well as an anti-down draft cowl.

In accordance with Document J of Building Regulations, a suitable air vent kit was also installed.

As with every installation, the appliance was smoke tested using Firestarter to ensure that there was an adequate degree of draw and all connections were sealed.
